1. What Information Do We Collect?

Location Data

With your permission, we collect your device's location to provide real-time lightning alerts for your area. Location data is used to determine proximity to storm zones and deliver push notifications. You can disable location access at any time in your device settings (note: this will disable alert functionality).

Device Information

We collect device type, operating system version, app version, and a device-generated push notification token (FCM token) to deliver alerts and ensure compatibility.

Usage Data

We collect anonymous analytics data through PostHog (self-hosted) to improve app performance and user experience. This includes feature usage patterns, screen views, and general statistics. No personally identifiable information is sent to analytics.

Crash Reports

We use Sentry for crash reporting. Crash reports include device type, OS version, and stack trace information. No personal data is included in crash reports.

3. Do We Share Your Information?

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with the following categories of third-party service providers:

  • Push notification delivery: Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google)
  • Analytics: PostHog (self-hosted, EU)
  • Crash reporting: Sentry
  • Subscription management: Apple App Store, Google Play Store

4. International Data Transfers

Our servers are located in Europe (Germany). Some of our service providers (Firebase, Sentry) may process data outside the EEA. We rely on appropriate safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses) for such transfers.

5. How Long Do We Keep Your Data?

Location data is processed in real-time and not stored permanently. Device tokens are retained while the app is installed. Analytics data is retained for 12 months. If you uninstall the app, your device token is automatically invalidated.

6. Your Privacy Rights

If you are located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you have the following rights under GDPR:

  • Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
  • Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
  • Erasure — request deletion of your data
  • Restriction — request restriction of processing

7. Children's Privacy

Our Services are not intended for children under 13 years of age (or under 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected data from a child, we will delete it promptly.
